Exhibition of the Regional Gallery of Fine Arts in Zlín at the Čipera Villa

This extensive complex, comprising a villa, garden, and a gardener's house, was designed by architect Vladimír Karfík for Dominik Čipera (1893–1963), one of the most important figures in the management of the Baťa Company.
This elegant residence is one of the most remarkable buildings in interwar Zlín. It perfectly combines modern architecture, comfort, and a thoughtful connection with nature.
The villa's history reflects the turbulent events of the last century - the boom of the Baťa empire, the war, and postwar changes. Nevertheless, it has retained its authentic appearance and unique atmosphere to this day. The Čipera villa has the same significance for Zlín as Villa Müller has for Prague or Villa Tugendhat for Brno. It is a living symbol of the era when Zlín became a city of modern lifestyle and world-class architecture. 

The exhibition on the first and second floors features the inception and history of Dominik Čipera's villa, the interwar residential and villa construction projects of the Baťa Company, and the life story of Dominik Čipera, whose significance far exceeds the borders of Zlín and the entire region. It also commemorates the brief period from 1942 to 1945, when Dominik Čipera lived in the villa with his family before he was persecuted and forced to leave the country.
The exhibition includes an architectural model of the villa and extensive documentation about this exceptional building and its owner.

On 26 March 2002, the villa complex together with the gardener's house was listed as cultural monument of the Czech Republic, confirming its extraordinary architectural and historical heritage.

In 2024–2025, the Čipera Villa and the entire complex were revitalized into the Cultural and Creative Center of the Zlín Region.
